William M Siver signed up for draft in Hamlin County, SD. He was living in Erwin, SD at the time but it was closer to walk to Bryant, SD than to De Smet, SD to sign up for the draft.

Pvt. Wm. M Siver, Co. F, is listed in the book HISTORY AND ROSTER OF THE 355th INFANTRY, 89th DIVISION , p. 18, as having been WOUNDED in ST. MIHIEL SALIENT BETWEEN SEPT. 12th and OCT. 8th 1918.

That book also tells the history of the 355th and what life was like during training at Camp Funston. (p. 25, 26) Page 27 begins the story of what it was like being shipped overseas. The story of their arrival in France begins on p. 28. Battle histories begin on p. 30.

According to the book, the 355th was the first group at Ft Leonard Wood and they had to build most of their buildings and organize the fort.
