1st Lt Russell E Reeves was a Pilot in the Russell Reeves flight crew, They seem to have flown all of their missions in the 26th Bombardment Squadron (in the 11th Bomb Group). They were transferred to the 392nd Bombardment Squadron in Feb 1945. Their duty in the 392nd Bombardment Squadron was protecting Hawaii - and they saw no more active combat duty.

On July 30 1945 Lt Russell E Reeves was test flying a B-24D that the 392nd Bombardment Squadron had just converted to carry cargo. The plane was never heard from again after take -off - and the wreckage was spotted on a mountain the next day.

Lt Russell E Reeves was not flying with his flight crew on the day the EVELYN crashed. He was flying with Robert E McHorter's (#0-827824) flight crew. (After the crash, McHorter took over the Stricklin flight crew).
