Calvin Brooks Prescott

Served in the 4th Battalion Massachusetts Infantry, 8th Massachusetts Light Artillery and the 1st Battalion Massachusetts Heavy Artillery

Prescott was residing in Boston, Ma; employed as a 20-year-old Clerk when he enlisted on May 26, 1862 at Boston, Ma. as a Private in the 4th Battalion Massachusetts Infantry, a 30-day unit.

On May 27, 1862 he mustered into Co. B. He was mustered out on May 31, 1862 at Boston, Ma.

On June 9, 1862 Prescott mustered into the 8th Massachusetts Light Artillery, a 6-month unit organized at Camp Cameron, in North Cambridge, Ma. on May 24, 1862. He was mustered out on Nov. 29, 1862 at Washington, D.C.

On June 6, 1863 he was commissioned into Co. D of the 1st Battalion Massachusetts Heavy Artillery, a 3-year unit, organized from the 1, 2, 4 and 5th Unattached Co.’s on April 1, 1863. Promoted to 2nd Lieut. June 4, 1863 and to 1st Lieut. June 6, 1865. He was mustered out on Sept. 12, 1865. The regiment mustered out: Oct. 20, 1865.

After the war Prescott resided in Newton, Ma; where he died on May 28, 1887.
