Frances Matilda (Fanny) Merwin Black

aughter of Elijah B. Merwin and Susan Lincoln, and first wife of Samuel H. B. Black (1808-1847), whom she married in 1836. Fanny and Samuel were the parents of three children: Frances Rebecca; Merwin; and Joseph Lincoln. Husband Samuel was a newspaper editor in Natchez, MS, from 1836 to 1839 and afterwards a professor at Oakland College. Fanny died in 1844 and was buried at Oakland College Cemetery.
