Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Wilson Funeral Home in Ava, for John Morber, 91, of Ava. The Rev. James Christoff, pastor of the Ava Missionary Baptist will officiate. Burial will be in the Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.

Mr. Morber died Saturday morning in the Jackson County Nursing Home, Murphysboro.

He was a retired farmer and a member of the Crain Baptist Church near Ava.

Born in Jackson County, Feb. 2, 1881, he was the son of George and Elizabeth Jarrett Morber. He married Nellie Ledbetter, April 23, 1905 in Kinkaid township. She died in 1970.

Surviving are one son, Fred of E. St. Louis; four daughters, Effie Mezo, Daisy Jones, Bessie Himmer and Iva Christian all of Ava; one sister, Mary Boucher also of Ava; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a great-great-granddaughter, four brothers, and three sisters.
