Robert was born at home Dec 20, 1917 in Philadelphia to Harry and Carrie Taunt. He was the second of three children born to the couple. Robert had a happy childhood, although the family struggled through depression years. His father was forced to take a reduction in pay and the family lost their house to foreclosure. Remembering this, Bob was always a hard worker. He mowed lawns and delivered papers and saved enough money to buy a car in 1938.

In 1941 He met Sophie, and was drafted into the Army. They subsequently married in Sept of 1942, and the couple moved to Tampa, Fl where Bob was stationed with the Administrative services to the 3rd Army Airforce.

After the war, the couple moved to Huntingdon Valley, PA where they built a house and settled until 1989. One son, Robert B. was born to the couple.

In 1978, Bob retired from the Budd Company where he had worked for 39 years, and they traveled, finally settling on Florida as a retirement home. They moved to Spring Hill, Fl in 1989.

Bob lost Sophie to cancer Dec. 30, 1995. For many years after he helped other people deal with grief and loss of a spouse. Bob had an active mind. He read a great deal (in his last year 11 books), wrote poetry and kept a journal, was very active in his church, founded a brunch club for elder singles, was a woodworker, played the guitar (since 1942) and taught guitar for 10 years in adult night school. He was active in the Springhill Model RR club, loved photography, travel and get togethers with friends. He was a loving husband and father.

Bob suffered a stroke on October 20, 2001 and struggled to recover for 7 months. He remained in good spirits while in the nursing home. He passed away May 25, 2002. He will always be remembered by family and friends as a good man and an excellent role model.
